Building Construction and Materials

This module introduces students to the fundamental concepts of building construction and the materials used in small to medium-scale projects. It covers both substructure elements, like foundations and footings, and superstructure components, such as walls, floors, and roofs. The module delves into key construction materials—concrete, masonry, timber, metal, and glass—exploring their manufacturing processes, properties, and common applications. To ensure students achieve the module's objectives, they will engage in ongoing assessments, including assignments and tutorial activities, providing a comprehensive understanding of building construction principles and material usage.
